Melanoma maligno acral lentigy type in situ in adult man: case report

Abstract
Background: The incidence and mortality from cutaneous melanoma has been increasing worldwide. Brazilian population-based records do not accurately reflect the real scale of the problem.
Objective: The objective was to describe the importance of podiatry and podiatrist in the detection of melanoma and the case report of a 69-year-old male.
Method: A literature review of the theoretical foundation was made.
Result: The importance of pathological anatomy examination in the early diagnosis of the disease was highlighted.
Conclusion: The qualification of the podiatrist is crucial, without which, in this case, the patient could be without the initial guidance that led him to early diagnosis and cure.
