Abstract
Venous ulcers are common skin lesion in the lower limbs, circulatory problems cause them. Due to its complexity, it requires treatment from a multidisciplinary team. In this context, the podiatrist provides a great contribution to the primary care of these patients as, through a thorough evaluation of the lower limbs, this professional can treat and direct them to a suitable expert. In this study, bibliography research was performed in Google Scholar and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) databases, to identify the formation process of venous ulcers and their development in lower limbs. The mechanisms through which the patients acquire and develop this disease were explained.It was also discussed the daily impact on patients life, showing a positive impact when a multidisciplinary team works together in attendance seeking solutions and better living conditions for the patient. In this regard, the podiatrist is a qualified professional that can help in the prevention of this pathology in lower limbs through scientific and technical knowledge.
