Abstract
Onychomycosis is a disease characterized by fungal infection in one or more nails, an infection that may be caused by dermatophytes or not, which needs early diagnosis and qualified care for an effective result in its treatment. Understand the main characteristics of this pathology, as well as the identification techniques of the microorganism in the nail region, so that health professionals, when faced with the treatment, know which laboratory research technique best fits and The least likely to have a false negative result is the focus of this study. The focus is on reducing diseases related to this infection, such as the contagion of other people surrounding this potentially contaminated patient, and the use of topical methods to treat the disease.
